Domestic Building Indemnity Fund (HIH)

How to Lodge a Claim

Homeowners who have noticed defects within the warranty period and the builder is unable or unwilling to rectify, may submit a claim to VMIA BWP on the appropriate form.

If you make a claim on VMIA BWP under the State Government's assistance-package, you cannot make another claim against HIH as part of the liquidation in respect of that claim. If eligible for the assistance-package, you will be required to assign your rights of recovery against other parties, such as HIH and the builder, to the State via VMIA BWP, as the State's agent, in respect of that claim.
