Insurance for direct employers
VMIA provides insurance cover to direct employers who are recipients of an Individual Support Package, a funding initiative by the Department of Health and Human Services to allow a person to meet their disability-related support needs.
Commencing in 2012, the Department defined direct employers as persons with Individual Support Packages administered through direct payments, and they and/or their nominated person(s) directly employ support worker(s) using some of their funding.

What cover does VMIA provide to direct employers?
Covers direct employers against legal liability for personal injury and/or property damage claims made by third parties, whilst engaged in activities undertaken by the employed support worker in the provision of services.
Covers the direct employer, for accidental bodily injury including death, broken bones or dental procedures, whilst in the care of and as a result of the provision of services by an employed support worker.
