What is the Chart Evaluation Project?
VMIA is pleased to be supporting the ViCTOR Paediatric Chart Evaluation Project, alongside Safer Care Victoria’s (SCV) Paediatric Clinical Network, which is aimed at improving care for Victorian children. The ViCTOR chart supports effective decision-making and escalation of care in response to patient deterioration.
The Chart is underpinned by a set of paediatric clinical deterioration metrics and sustainable, state-wide monitoring framework, which reports paediatric clinical deterioration across Victorian hospitals.
A standardised paediatric MET data collection tool, which incorporates triggering of ViCTOR, is being piloted in 10 Victorian hospitals. This will help determine the frequency, characteristics and paediatric deterioration metrics of hospitalised children who are ‘transferred out’ to another hospital, or ‘transferred up’ to ICU because of unexpected clinical deterioration at pilot sites.
It is anticipated this will lead to a set of paediatric clinical deterioration metrics from existing data sources including, but not limited to, the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), Paediatric, Infant and Perinatal Emergency Retrieval (PIPER), Ambulance Victoria and the Critical Care Network.
