Overview

Risk appetite is the type and amount of risk that an organisation is prepared to accept or avoid. 

Clear risk appetite guidelines allow staff to confidently make decisions within agreed risk boundaries, encouraging flexibility and accountability. Setting and communicating risk appetite within the organisation also supports effective governance, strategy, culture and reporting. 

 

Learning objectives

By the end of the workshop, you should be able to:

  • Explore the concept of risk appetite and the value it can bring
  • Examine different approaches to defining risk appetite
  • Use a technique case to describe your risk appetite

Audience

This interactive workshop assumes you’re not an expert in risk, but you’ll have some understanding of corporate governance. It’s suited for managers, leaders and board members of public sector and community services organisations.
