This is Dave. Dave's running a sausage sizzle to raise money for the Southport Senior Society.
Dave's thought of everything: drinks, sausages, bread, onion and sauce in several different varieties!
Everything, except public and product liability insurance.
But Dave doesn't need to worry because under VMIA's CSO Insurance Program he's covered.
Eligible state-funded community service organisations are covered for events, like market stalls, functions, excursions, and of course, sausage sizzles.
The program's cover includes injury or damage caused by negligence from your staff or volunteers as well as any personal accidents for volunteers.
However, you're not automatically covered for everything.
If you're bringing in any entertainers, event managers, security staff or food vendors and especially if you're using an external premises you'll need to check that they have insurance as they won't be covered by your policy.
Aw. Don't worry, Dave. You're still well covered, but it's always worth knowing what for.
Oh no, I'm fine, thanks. Probably a bit too much sauce for me.
