Policy overview

If your organisation owns and/or uses aircraft or an airfield, there is a risk of aircraft being damaged or passengers being injured. VMIA’s Aviation insurance policies cover your organisation against these risks.

We have two types of aviation insurance:

  • Hangar keepers liability covers your legal liability for accidents occurring at your airfield, damage to aircraft and aircraft equipment in your care, custody and control. Legal liability for aircraft maintenance, sales and repair operations is also covered.
  • Non-ownership liability covers your legal liability for loss of or damage to aircraft as well as legal liability to passengers and third parties.

Who’s covered?

  • Your organisation and any of its employees engaged in operating, repairing, maintaining and using your aircraft or operating an airfield.

What’s covered?

  • Loss of and damage to aircraft or aircraft equipment in your care, custody or control — on the ground or during test flights
  • Bodily injury or property damage arising from aircraft maintenance, sales or repairs.

Non-ownership liability

  • Legal liability in respect of accidental loss of or damage to aircraft
  • Legal liability relating to accidental bodily injury and accidental property damage caused by the aircraft or by a person or object falling from the aircraft
  • Legal liability for accidental bodily injury to passengers whilst entering, on board, or alighting from the aircraft
